The SoundWorks Exchange

S.W.E.

The Sound Works Exchange (S.W.E.) is a 31 member network of German / British sound artists active in the evolution and development of innovative, experimental, electronic sonic crerations. With members as diverse as and ranging between Asmus Tietchens, Ulrich Lask and Christoph Heemann to Mark Royal (T-Power), MixMaster Morris and Kingsuk Biswas (Bedouin Ascent).

Sound Works Exchange was one of the first bi-lateral groups recognising and exploring the blurring point between experimental sonic art & new club / dance music culture, for a full members list check the (at present, forth-coming) Members Directory menu link.

The networks current project is the Sound Works Exchange - Munich , Germanys very first gathering of this network, paying homage to the history of original inustrial / sonic art that came and is coming out of Germany.

This weekend of performances and discussions, including 8 of the participants from across the 3 years, has been set up to develop the potential Sound Works Exchange network as a distributable being , to encourage opportunities for touring the network artists in modular combinations to suit differing contexts and audience, venue needs.

As with our other networks S.W.E. serves to provide "employment, research & exchange" opportunities in the form of collaborations for people who might otherwise not meet.

Anticipating the future, it is also the aim of the organisers, shinkansen in co-partnership with the Goethe Institut, Munich and the Britsh Council, Germany to evolve the distribution of live, electronic music through on-line marketing & are also researching project productions, suitable for Internet radio broadcasts. We welcome any help, assistance or ideas from those who can help facilitate this.

Along with European Choreographic Forum, the network started for choreographers 6 years ago, the S.W.E. & Sound Work Recordings, the recording project also spawned, web presence will be under-going some transformation which will ( hopefully ) end with the incorparation of some of the stockpile of recordings of live sonic performances & recordings made at our Club Research & Club Oval events, featuring new and established D.J. talent. along with the network members.

Sound Work Recordings has 2 C.D.'s out on release and two currently in productions, check out some Real Audio samples -
